These procedures are performed at Windows(tm) workstations on the WARES Server network.

Setting a static IP address
Using static IP at all workstations will preserve local network functioning if the router server goes down.
- Choose START + Control Panel
- Double-click and open Network Connections
- Right-click Local Area Connection, choose Properties
- Double-click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), enter IP addresses
IP Address: ( 192 . 168 . 2 . nnn ) (where nnn is a unique workstation number between 3 and 99) Subnet mask: ( 255 . 255 . 255 . 0 ) Default gateway: ( 192 . 168 . 2 . 1 ) Primary DNS: ( 192 . 168 . 2 . 1 ) Secondary DNS: (__leave_blank__) Click OK to save changes

Mapping drives at Windows(tm) workstations
(may be performed by NETUSE.bat)
- Open My Computer
- Choose menu option Tools + Map Network Drive
- Enter Drive: W:
- Enter Folder: \\WaresServer\arev
- Click Finish
Repeat these steps to map drive S: to folder \\WaresServer\public

Setting the Workstation and Workgroup Names
- Choose Start + Control Panel
- Double-Click the System icon
- Click on the Computer Name tab
- Click the Change pushbutton
- Change the Workstation and Workgroup names
- Save changes, and restart the computer (this IS Windows(tm))

Setting up the WARES icon
- Open My Computer, change the Address (Location) to W:
- Drag the WARES.pif icon from W: to the workstation desktop
- Right-click the WARES icon; choose Properties
- Click the Program tab
- Set Cmd Line: W:\wares.bat USERnn where USERnn is the WARES assigned username
- Set Working: W:
- Click OK to accept the change
- Drag the WARES icon from the deskop and drop it on the Start menu button

Editing the NETUSE.bat utility script
- Copy the NETUSE.bat file icon from \\WaresServer\arev to the desktop and edit it.
- Map the plain paper printer to LPT1, a forms printer to LPT2, and a labels printer to LPT3.
- Add any other drive mapping commands here which apply to all workstations.
- Save and run NETUSE.bat from your desktop

Setting WARES printer maps
- Open a command window by selecting START + Run and then entering Cmd.
- type W: to change to mapped drive W:
- Type NETUSE.bat to map printers (and optionally, drives).

Installing the Universal Driver client for AREV
These steps are performed at the first Windows(tm) workstation on the network after mapping drive W:.
- Choose START + Run
- Enter command <Enter>
- Switch to drive W: (Type W: <Enter>)
- Enter the command arev install /x
- Select 'Install/Upgrade'
- Enter the path W:\Client
- Choose Universal Driver
- Exit (Choose Exit in arev, do not close the command prompt.)
- Enter the command arev lanpack /x
- Choose Network Type
- Press <F2> for options, Select Universal
- Press <F9> to change the driver
- Exit
